While the grounds at Fire Island Boatel are a beautiful dreamy escape, you will likely want to venture around Fire Island during your stay with us. Here are some local tips on what to check out while you are here:
After you enjoy your morning coffee watching the sunrise on one of our suite decks, step out to our picturesque private beach for a day full of sun, salt and sand. The hours will slip on by. For a nutritious and delicious day by the sea, grab a pizza from a local pizzeria or bring a picnic lunch from one of the local markets. The suite kitchenette makes it easy to prepare your own meals, too.
There is nothing like a day at the beach, and if you are looking for seasonal lifeguards, then visit the public beach located just a 10 minute walk away from the Boatel. Fun and relaxation await!
The island is easy to get around by bike, and you can rent bicycles from a shop a short stroll from the Boatel. Explore Kismet or venture into the neighboring beach towns of Saltaire, Fair Harbor and Atlantique—all beautiful locations for vacation snapshots. To ensure you have a bike available for your use during your visit, check for availability by calling Kismet Bike Rentals at (516) 220-1764.
If you brought the kiddos along, visit the park and let them run around on the playground. There are also basketball and tennis courts, all just a short walk away from Fire Island Boatel.
Less than a mile away from the Boatel is the Fire Island Lighthouse, which is a favorite spot for birdwatchers, particularly in fall. They also offer seasonal “Tower Tours”, where visitors are given the chance to climb the 182 stairs to the top of the lighthouse. This is an adventure you will remember forever. Learn more about the Lighthouse here.
Beach and Vine and Fire Island Tap are two shops in Kismet located at 177 Pine Street. Throughout summer and into fall they host a number of fun-filled events that are about all things wine! From wine tastings to wine and cheese pairings to trivia nights and much more, these are the perfect spots to visit and enjoy a drink after a full day of exploring the island.
